On May 2012, GIMIAS was presented at the Workshop on Open Source Medical Image Analysis software organized by ISBI 2012 and Eurobioimaging. Eurobioimaging is aimed at providing a research infrastructure for biomedical research, while ISBI is the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging that took place in Barcelona from 2th to 5th of May.
The workshop was held during 31th of April and 1st of May. The invited speakers were from University College London, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Fraunhofer MEVIS, Kitware Inc., Erasmus MC, Harvard Medical School and Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Xavi Planes and Ignacio Larrabide, from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), presented GIMIAS Framework and its applications built in UPF during the last years. The presentation is available at SlideShare.
During the afternoon of the last day, interesting discussions were held among all participants about open source software on the topics of interoperability, repository of open source validated tools, open access databases and large scale computing. This workshop and the discussion that followed has been partly supported by the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR).
